Screening Rights

In accordance with the Indiana University Bloomington Libraries’ policy on Copyright & Licensing for Public Performance, faculty, staff, students, and community members are advised that educational fair use in copyright law allows films to be shown in private or within a classroom setting, but not in advertised student organization events. Whether or not there is a charge to view the film does not matter.

Please read the GLBT Student Support Services Library Guideline on Showing Movies on Campus, approved by the University Counsel of Indiana University on June 8, 2006.

For more information, please see the Indiana University Bloomington Libraries “Copyright & Licensing for Public Performance”or the Copyright at Indiana University..

Replacement Fees

In the event that an item borrowed from the GLBT Library is lost or not returned, restitution not to exceed the cost of the item will be charged to the patron. If one item from a set is checked out (example: video set) and not returned, then the price of replacing the whole set will be charged if the individual item cannot be purchased on its own. Your client information will be sent to the Office of Student Ethics for consideration of disciplinary action after a library item has been overdue for four weeks.

Damaged Items

All items are to be brought back in the same condition (allowing for normal wear and tear.) If an item is substantially damaged (for example: the cover missing from a book, a scratch on a CD), restitution will be sought equal to the cost of the item. This process will happen through the Office of Student Ethics in the same manner that replacement of lost items is handled.
