The Spirit Awards

The GLBT Office opened its doors in November 1994 in the midst of a storm of controversy and to celebrate our amazing success each year we honor our allies and friends with a special Spirit Award. The award was initiated by students on the occasion of our Fifth Anniversary and is to be presented each year to “individuals, groups, offices and departments that embody the strength, character, and spirit of the Indiana University GLBT Student Support Services Office.”

This year’s deadline is December 20. Please send all of your nominations to Doug Bauder at dbauder@indiana.edu  In your nomination letter please include:

  1. Name of person or group to be nominated
  2. Reason for making each nomination
  3. Your name and email address

The award was initiated by students on the occasion of our Fifth Anniversary and is to be presented each year to “individuals, groups, offices and departments that embody the strength, character, and spirit of the Indiana University GLBT Student Support Services Office.” You may make nominations in three categories: Student, Faculty/Staff, and/or Office/Department/Organization. Please nominate only one person/organization in each category.

A committee from the GLBT Office Advisory Board will make recommendations to the Board and awards will be presented at the GLBT Alumni Association Reception on January 31 as part of the PRIDE Film Festival.

Thank you for helping us to affirm those with ‘spirit’ on our campus.
